Bucket List Experiences in Spain

Spain is one of the countries that immediately brings a smile to your face

Spain is one of the countries that immediately brings a smile to your face. Most people consider Spain a holiday destination. However, many foreigners are moving to Spain from the UK. This is for many reasons, but the primary one is the beautiful standard of life. Spain is gorgeous, with less pollution, plenty of culture, great music and food, and excellent career opportunities for foreigners.

Many people try a visitor visa and see Spain before deciding to shift base. There are also many people on indefinite leave to remain in the UK but want to experience all the beauty that Spain is globally known for. Whatever your reasons for visiting Spain, you must ensure you get to tick off a few bucket list spots from your itinerary.

Spain is known for its once-in-a-lifetime experiences with unparalleled grace and breathtaking beauty.

Let us take you through a few bucket list experiences in Spain.

Visit the La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona:

The La Sagrada Familia is one of the first bucket list experiences you should complete when you're in Spain. While there are more naturally beautiful places you can visit, La Sagrada Familia is a marvel since it has been under construction for more than 100 years! To imagine it will be finished in our lifetime is a huge deal.

The vast cathedral designed by Catalan architect and designer Antoni Gaudi is a masterpiece with every inch covered in artistic elements. The exteriors, interiors, and entire façade was thought about and put into motion more than 100 years back and is still getting completed. Exploring the La Sagrada Familia should be one of the first things you should do.

The Park Guell Sunset in Barcelona:

While countless places have pretty sunsets, the one from Park Guell is unparalleled. The Park Guell is another masterpiece by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. It is a public park in Barcelona with exquisite architecture and design elements.

The reason the sunset from Park Guell is on this list is that as you wander around the park, you should get to the viewing spot just around sunset. As you watch, you can see the sun's rays wash over the entire city of Barcelona. It's a gorgeous golden hue that no camera can ever capture! It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with unparalleled beauty. People have been known to cry tears of joy at sight.

Sail to Cies:

The stunning Cies Island lies just northwest of Spain near Galicia. Cies is an uninhabited island and can only be reached via a ferry or private boat from the mainland. The island has no cars, public transport, or even roads. There are a few paths, but those are mostly made only with feet trodden over the years. However, the island has some gorgeous sandy beaches throughout.

If you are using the ferry, it is best to book tickets in advance since the seats to Cies get sold out very quickly, and you may not get a ticket at the last minute. If you want to plan an overnight camping trip, you will need a camping permit and will need to inform the authorities accordingly. The licenses need to be secured several months in advance.

There is a security outpost on the island and a restaurant, but no accommodation or vehicles.

Hike Mount Teide in Tenerife:

Tenerife, located off Africa, has gorgeous weather all year round and is perfect for creating core memories with families, loved ones, significant others, or just solo. Mount Teide is one of the island's 300 volcanoes. However, its peak is the third-largest globally and is snow-capped, so you cannot miss it!

There are several ways to reach the top – cable car, hiking, biking, and more. While getting to the top of the peak is a challenge, the incredible vistas, stunning observatory, and stargazing is out of this world. Apart from only the mountain, the island also has excellent surfing spots and a varied natural landscape. While there are plenty of resorts to experience Tenerife, it is advisable that visitors should stay in local small places that also offer incredible food and music.

Spanish Cuisine:

While most people presume the cuisine is excellent, it is noteworthy of a spot on your bucket list. Spanish cuisine is a mix of delicious, spicy, tangy, and more flavours than you can imagine. Authentic Spanish food should be paired with Sangria, and everyone should try the Spanish paella at least once (veggies, meat or seafood with rice). Tapas (small dishes), pinchos (nibbles on bread), and wine are excellent combinations to try anywhere in Spain.
